"It's in the detail"

Now that the important structural changes have been made in the Lady Elizabeth Wing, it's now time to concentrate on the fine details that will give this venue the 'wow' factor. Some of these finer details include the solid oak flooring in the main hall and landscaping the outside space using mild steel edging made on the Estate by Holkham Forge.

Taking Shape

The Lady Elizabeth Wing project has moved on considerably with the various recognisable rooms taking shape. The roof has now been completed giving the building an iconic shape and means that the real oak wood flooring can be laid. In addition to the roof the white dolomite etched concrete beams and columns have been installed courtesy of Cornish Concrete Products Ltd.

Top-notch tiling

The elegant lines of the Lady Elizabeth Wing.

Now the building is watertight, work can begin on the interior.

The building work at the Lady Elizabeth Wing has reached a new and exciting stage with the completion of the roof. Now we can see the unique shape created by the two sloping roofs and the large expanse inside the building. The added skylights along the centre of the middle section will allow even more light into this large and airy space and will create a unique atmosphere for events.

Taking Shape

Our contractors are hard at work creating the different 'rooms' in the new Field to Fork Farming Exhibition. The first step of adapting these old stables is under way, with plasterers finishing off the walls and new display areas. The character of the building has been retained with original woodwork and feeding troughs and the next step is for the electricians to come in and make sure that everything is 'wired-up'.

A new lease of life

As building work on the new visitor services area continues afoot, Lady Glenconner joined the team today to look around the new Lady Elizabeth Wing. The transformed space was used by Lady Glenconner's Mother, Countess of Leicester, who set-up Holkham Pottery in the building during the 1950's.
